What We Believe

We are a Reformed church of the Presbyterian Church, USA (PCUSA). As do all Christians, we believe in:

the Trinity— the mystery that one God exists and is revealed in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

the Incarnation— that the Eternal Word of God became flesh in Jesus Christ, who is uniquely, truly and wholly God, and wholly human.

As do all Protestants, we believe in:

Justification by grace alone, and by faith alone. Only by God’s forgiving, loving mercy through the self-sacrifice of Jesus Christ may we appear before God as sinless. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves.

Scripture as the first and ultimate authority in life: God’s Holy Word, the Bible, as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

As do all Reformed churches, we believe in:

the Sovereignty of God. We affirm the majesty, holiness and providence of God, who creates, sustains, rules and redeems the world in the freedom of sovereign righteousness and love.

the Election of people by God for salvation and for service.

Covenant, and that God alone initiated covenant with us, bringing us into relationship with God and one another: relationships that involve responsibility for each other and a concern for order.

faithful Stewardship of God’s creation that will avoid ostentation and responsibly use the gifts God has provided in the created order.

Sin, and recognize that fallen human nature tends toward idolatry and tyranny.

Obedience: that God’s people work to transform society by seeking justice and by living in obedience to the Word of God.
